Teacher Bio

Mr. James Stallworth is a product of the Mobile County Public School System being a graduate of John L. LeFlore Magnet High School. Upon graduation he attended Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. While at Southern, he participated in the world famous "Human Jukebox" Marching Band for four years serving as Tuba Section Leader his final two seasons. Mr. Stallworth holds a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Southern University and a Masters in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. He began his teaching career as a interim band director at Belsaw-Mt. Vernon in the Spring of 2004. Mr. Stallworth was appointed as Director of Bands at Mattie T. Blount High School in the Fall of 2004 where he currently remains. Throughout his 18 year tenure, the Leopard's Band has made many accomplishments and successful seasons. Instrumental ensembles have expanded to now include a Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Pep Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and of course the Mighty Marching Leopards Band. Under his leadership, the Blount High School Band Department has grown in quality, quantity and consistency remaining one of the finest and most comprehensive band programs in the district. Mr. Stallworth holds memberships to several professional organizations including Alabama Music Educators Association, National Education Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, Mobile County Band Directors Association, Kappa Kappa Psi National Band Fraternity and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. just to name a few. We appreciate his vision and inspiration throughout these many years and we know that the best is yet to come.
